Hazel, Chiropractor and Yoga instructor
Hello and welcome to my website!
Hopefully you will find all the info you require on my Chiropractic and Yoga offerings in Bristol. I take a multidisciplinary, holistic approach, where each treatment is tailored to the patients specific needs. I have been lucky enough over the past 15 years to work alongside some of the most experienced Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and body workers. My approach is a fusion of this knowledge where I combine adjustment techniques, soft tissue work, yoga therapy, needling, rehabilitation and breath techniques to provide a unique approach to patient care.
I fully embrace the concept that the body cannot be seen as separate to the mind, so my approach is to treat each patient as a person and to understand the underlying stress and tensions that could be contributing factors.
About Me
I am a born and bred Bristolian who has now been involved in the health and wellness industry for over 20 years (terrifying). It all started with working as a fitness instructor in a local gym (Graftons in the Pithay for those that can remember) which evolved into teaching classes and personal training.
This was during my first degree in Sport and Exercise Science at The University of Bath. Once I graduated, I took the opportunity to travel for a year before embarking on a four-year Masters of Chiropractic in Bournemouth.
On returning to Bristol in 2008, I started working as a Chiropractor for The Medical, a clinic based at Christmas steps right in the centre of Bristol. Not long after, I was invited to become practice manager, which soon evolved into becoming a shareholder. Alongside my partners we grew the business, adding clinics and services whilst I was still treating as a Chiropractor part time.
During my Chiropractic career I have been lucky to treat a wide variety of patients. I have a particular passion for treating active people and was selected to work in the polyclinic as part of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, such an incredible experience. I am also particularly interested in helping those with headaches, chronic neck pain and stress related problems that are often poorly managed within the NHS and more traditional approaches.
In the last 6 years I decided to go back to my teaching roots and embarked on a teacher training course at Yogasara in Bristol. This has led to over 500 hours of study, training in India and a complete change in outlook and priorities.
Through these big changes I decided that I no longer wanted to focus on running a large company with my partners and that wanted to simplify my practise. Therefore, I left The Medical at the start of 2020 to offer Chiropractic from my own treating space. During this time, I also bought and fully converted a solar powered canal boat, completed my MBA, Masters in Business and launched a social enterprise called The Bristol Yoga Roots Project (BYRP) alongside my friends Megan and Leonie.
I now split my time between Chiropractic, teaching yoga classes both online and in-person, offering retreats and workshops and being a managing director and board member of BYRP.
I am a passionate activist for the system change required to protect our environment from climate destruction and I try to be as conscious as possible of my personal impact. I currently live in Redland with my partner Tom and blind cat Socks and often escape the city for adventures in our campervan. I am blessed to have an incredible network of friends and family.
If my decomposing carcass helps nourish the roots of a juniper tree or the wings of a vulture - that is immortality enough for me. And as much as anyone deserves.
